At J & A Kay, sustainability is embedded within our manufacturing processes. As an ISO 14001 accredited business, we are committed to continually improving our environmental performance while delivering high-quality thermoplastic components to customers across the automotive, transport, industrial and medical sectors.
One of the key advantages of thermoplastics is their ability to be recycled and reprocessed. Unlike many traditional materials, thermoplastics can be reheated and reused multiple times, making them well suited to a circular economy where valuable resources remain in use for as long as possible.
To support this approach, we operate our own in-house granulation facility. Plastic offcuts generated during our thermoforming and CNC trimming processes are collected, processed and converted into granulated material rather than being discarded. This material is then supplied back to thermoplastic sheet manufacturers, where it can be incorporated into the production of new sheet material, creating a genuine circular supply chain.
Our goal is simple: recover, recycle and return as much material as possible back into the manufacturing cycle. By keeping valuable resources in circulation, we reduce waste, minimise disposal requirements and help support more sustainable manufacturing practices throughout the supply chain.
Thermoplastics also offer sustainability benefits beyond recycling. Their lightweight properties can help reduce vehicle weight, improve fuel efficiency and lower energy consumption across a wide range of applications. Combined with their durability and long service life, thermoplastic components can contribute to both environmental and operational efficiencies.
