Press Forming

Our capabilities include;

Assisted convection ovens, maximum capacity 3000 x 1000 x 750mm.

Hydraulic presses. capacity is 1400 x 1000m with daylight of 1000mm.
Tools can exceed the envelope, and lengths up to 2.5m are not uncommon.

Ovens are used not only for heating materials for press or drape forming, but also drying sheet and annealing product. We also have a versatile hybrid oven with a capacity 3.0 x 1.5 x 0.6m, which supplements our main facility.

Other applications

Other applications

In addition to press forming, we also Drape Form. This technique uses heat and minimal pressure to produce curves in materials, with negligible tool/surface marks. The caravan front window is an example of this (note the reverse screen printed border).

Our presses are also used to ‘free blow’ domes, commonly in acrylic. We have facilities to control these to a fine degree, for maximum aesthetic and optical quality.

We can also use tooling with moving sides to form, under pressure, surface detail and component undercuts - the prismatic part shown was manufactured from clear 3mm sheet material.
